Whose kid is this?


Have you ever been in a store and a toddler wraps their arms around your leg? That moment you look down to see what’s just hugged you, is often the moment that little ‘hugger’ looks up at you and realizes you’re not his daddy!

High water mark of Character

55a92cbf40c9d.imageMy nerves are shot, I’ve had it up to here, I’m all out of patience, and you’re on my last nerve, I can’t anymore of this, and I won’t deal with this any longer. We’ve all said or at least thought of these statements throughout life.

Growing up in church I have even heard the advice that I shouldn’t even pray for patience, as if that in someone way God will answer my request for patience by rendering suffering. It seems that even in Protestantism, it is understood that patience, if not yet possessed, is only acquired by suffering.

My favorite place to find the word ‘patience’ in the Bible, is in the list of the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23;

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

When you love life more than sex

flowrcacterSexuality is all around us. As a consumer culture, the marketeers seem to have found a way to exploit our basest desires, arousing it’s hunger. And when that hunger is fed, it grows to be stronger than the will to live.

Sexuality was designed and created by God. And everything God does is good, and purposeful. But what God has made perfect may be perverted and subverted by sin. And what was made for the creation of life may turn into an instrument of death. What is altogether good may be used for evil.

We can see the obvious evidence of sexual desire being used as an instrument of death by the rapes and sexual assaults against women and children in the news. But a farther conversation is nearly prohibited in our culture. But lets take Continue reading “When you love life more than sex”
