The Secret of Rest

The Secret of Rest

The news and worries of the day, the loneliness and discouragement, the isolation and realities some must face can weary the mind and soul.

This isolation many are living is wearying. For some, the isolation is a reminder of bad life decisions or hurts from the past. Introspection can be very painful for some. And solitude and isolation inevitably invites introspection.

And at this time when getting out is difficult and for some getting out to work is difficult, the mind can be weary from overthinking and worry.

Here and in other places Jesus invites us to the secret place of rest. Jesus invites us to Divine rest, a place of peace. For some, just a moment of peace and rest of the mind will make all the difference.

When the cares and worries of this world weary us, there is a place of rest and a Person to meet us, it is Jesus.

Where is the place? It is really a moment; the moment of surrender. It is a moment of faith and trust and also a moment of giving up heavy burdens.

Intentionally giving our mental burdens over to Jesus is easier said than done. It is not a cop-out, it is not an excuse. It is answering His invitation rest. He is the creator, we are the creation; we were made by and for Him. It is more than natural and right to come to Him in prayer, cast our cares upon Him, and receive rest for our mind and soul.
